Condition

Updated for scratches and changes four times a day. An asterisk * means the race was originally scheduled for the turf.

Wagering confidence

Confidence in wagering on the race, scored on a 0–5 scale.

Projected pace of race

Scored from 0–10. A score of 10 is hot.

GRD suffixes · Additional angles

The + suffix is driven by high FWR, and the t suffix applies in turf routes; both identify horses with profitable ROI. These algorithms are subject to change as we continue our analysis.

Form cycle

Shows where a horse is in its form cycle and flags potential improvement angles.

1L / 2L / 3L

First, second, or third lifetime start.

1 / 2 / 3

First, second, or third start after a layoff of 90 days or more.

C1 / C2 / C3

First, second, or third start off a claim.

Running style & Quirin points

The horse’s preferred running style and Quirin points indicate how likely it is to get the lead. This is factored into the pace analysis.

Distance change

> means stretching out; < means cutting back. These distance changes are factored into pace-analysis bonuses.

Modeled win probability

A very important parameter. All factors contribute depending on the horse’s experience and form cycle. Horses are sorted by W% from highest to lowest by default in each race.

Morning line · Adjusted morning line

Morning-line odds adjusted after scratches. Horses outside the top 3 AML are highlighted in yellow.

Value

The horse’s value, comparing its modeled win probability (W%) with its adjusted morning line (AML).

Early & late speed

Projected early and late speed, factored into the pace analysis.

Energy rating

Blends ES and LS based on surface and distance. This is our speed rating. 5 points is a significant gap.

Projected performance figure

Based on how well the horse has performed in recent races. Measures class.

Best possible performance figure

A horse might improve to a previous performance level based on today’s distance, surface, or its form cycle. Useful for finding long shots and value.

Fitness workout rating

Important only for lightly raced horses or horses returning from a layoff of 90 days or more. Those situations appear in the form-cycle codes.

Trainer & jockey ratings

Particularly important for maidens and horses making their first start off a claim. Considers trainer angles, trainer/jockey combinations, a jockey’s preferred surface, and other factors.

Distance & surface fit

How well the horse fits today’s distance and surface. Scores of 50 or lower are pink, which may be worth examining for long shots switching surfaces. Otherwise, you want this score to be high.
